A Family Hat

Posted on

When we went on our short holiday trip to the west last week Martin reminded me to knit him a long promised hat. He has been reminding me for the last three years and I don’t know why it took me so long to get started.

I cast on when we left home and only used left over yarn (Aran Tweed from Donegal) and this free pattern. Two days later he could wear his hat on a walk along the beach. Yay!

Martins new hat

Maybe it’s a bit too small for him but it kind of fits everyone in the family so we call it our family hat.

me and the hat

It was surprisingly easy and I think Martin deserves another hat, just for himself…

  2. I’m jealous! I love knitted hats and I’d love to be able to make them myself, too! XD It’s a cool “hatze” and you should keep it as long as possible. I bet if you knit another (better) hat, it will never become as special and unique as this one.
